Hitit University Technology Transfer Office Inc.
The Hitit University Technology Transfer Office Inc. (shortly Hitit TTO) is an organization established to develop university-industry collaboration and support the transformation of academic research and inventions into commercial value. Its primary goals include protecting, managing, and commercializing intellectual and industrial property rights (IPR); helping innovative ideas evolve into companies; and contributing to regional and national economic development.
Establishment and Structure
Hitit TTO was established on 4 November 2020 under the Hitit University Rectorate. In a later phase it transitioned into a joint-stock company structure and continues its activities under the name Hitit University Technology Transfer Office Inc. It serves as a bridge between research centres, academics, entrepreneurs, investors, and industrialists, facilitating the transfer of knowledge and technology.
Service Areas
Hitit TTO provides consultancy and operational support at every stage of the technology transfer process:
Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights (IPR)
- Implementing and developing institutional IPR policy
- Managing patent, utility model, and trademark applications on behalf of the university
- Monitoring the IPR portfolio and determining commercialization strategies
- Providing academics with technical information on intellectual property and protection
R&D and Design Centre Support
- Consultancy for the establishment and maintenance of R&D and design centres
- Project proposal writing for ministry, TÜBİTAK, KOSGEB, Development Agency, and EU grants
- R&D project development and management
- Supporting company admission processes within technoparks and technology development zones
University–Industry Collaboration
- Matching academic expertise with industry needs
- Developing joint projects, consultancy agreements, and licensing processes
- Technical and managerial support programmes for industrialists
- Faculty-industry engagement events such as “TTO — Department Meetings”
Entrepreneurship and Mentorship
- Mentorship for young entrepreneurs and academics
- Support in marketing, sales, and business development
- Legal support: completing legal protections for inventions, trademarks, and designs
- Guidance on international collaboration and funding opportunities
Notable Projects and Collaborations
Hitit TTO maintains continuous contact with manufacturing firms in Çorum and the surrounding region. It undertakes contractor roles in projects supported by the Orta Karadeniz Kalkınma Ajansı (OKA); these projects make strong contributions to the production capacity and technological competence of companies. Active collaborations are carried out especially in machinery manufacturing, cell technologies, automation, and software.
Hitit TTO also organizes information events on Türkiye’s 5G process, 6G horizon, and Standard-Essential Patents (SEP); and supports entrepreneurs in application processes for KOSGEB capacity development programmes.
Collaboration with Çorum Teknokent
Hitit University is one of the founding partners of Çorum Teknokent (10% share). Therefore, a natural synergy exists between Hitit TTO and Teknokent. Companies operating in or seeking to establish themselves at Teknokent receive support from the TTO in project writing, patent consultancy, and R&D centre establishment. The Technology Transfer Office’s joint-stock structure facilitates bringing promising academic ideas together with Teknokent’s resources.
