Salim Uslu
Salim Uslu (14 November 1955, Alaca) is a Turkish trade unionist and politician, a former President of the Hak-İş Confederation and a former member of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) for Çorum.
Trade Union Career
Born in Alaca district, Uslu began union work in 1976 with the founding of the Hak-İş Confederation. Between 1980 and 1995 he held posts including General Education Secretary of the Hak-İş Confederation and General Secretary of the Öz Gıda-İş union. From 3 December 1995, he served simultaneously as General President of the Hak-İş Confederation and General President of Öz Gıda-İş. He was later elected Honorary President of the Hak-İş Confederation.
Parliamentary Service
Representing the Justice and Development Party (AKP), he served as Çorum MP in the 24th term (28 June 2011 – 1 October 2015) and the 25th term of the TBMM; during the 24th term he also served as an Administrator (İdare Amiri) of the Assembly.
Other Roles
He has held positions with the International Industrial Relations Association (IIRA), the EU-Turkey Joint Consultative Committee of the Economic and Social Council, the Executive Committee of the European Trade Union Confederation, and the Economic and Social Council. He has published two books, “Bütün Yönleriyle 1 Mayıs” (May Day in All Its Aspects) and “Çağdaş Sendikal Anlayış” (A Modern Union Approach).
