The Çorum Stadium: Old and New
The stadium history of Çorum is the story of the city’s football itself: the old Dr. Turhan Kılıçcıoğlu Stadium in the city centre was Çorumspor’s castle for half a century; then the Çorum City Stadium, opened in 2020, carried the club from the TFF 2nd League to a historic promotion to the Süper Lig.
The Old Stadium: Dr. Turhan Kılıçcıoğlu
The city-centre stadium hosted Çorumspor and later Yeni Çorumspor (Çorum FK) matches for generations:
- In its final years it had an all-seated capacity of 7,400
- The stadium closed in 2021 and was demolished on 19 September 2022
- It was named after Dr. Turhan Kılıçcıoğlu, one of Çorum’s beloved figures
The stadium was more than a sports venue; tucked among residential blocks, it was part of the neighbourhood culture and Sunday gatherings.
The New Stadium: Çorum City Stadium
Rising next to the Samsun–Ankara highway at the city’s southern exit, the new stadium replaced the old one:
- Opening: 2020 — inaugurated with the Çorum FK–Manisa FK match
- Capacity: 15,000 spectators
- Cost: Approximately TL 160 million (financed by the Çorum Municipality budget, excluding land)
- Location: About 10 minutes from the centre; easy access for visiting fans from neighbouring provinces via the highway
The Road to the Süper Lig
The new stadium witnessed the club’s rise. Çorum FK climbed from the 2nd League to the 1st League, and in 2025 reached the Süper Lig with a historic success.
