Üçköy Mosque
Üçköy Mosque is an Ottoman-era mosque located in the village of Üçköy, in the central district of Çorum. According to its marble inscription, the building was constructed in the Hijri year 1315 (1897 CE) by Ali Paşa.
History and Heritage Registration
Üçköy Mosque was registered as a “Cultural Asset Requiring Protection” in 1983. Conservation planning began in 2017, when the Çorum Special Provincial Administration had survey (rölöve), restoration and restitution projects prepared for the building; these projects were approved by the Ankara Regional Board for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage.
Architecture
The mosque has a rectangular plan; its foundations and walls are built of rubble stone, with cut stone used at the corners. The prayer hall is covered by a timber dome resting on four wooden columns, decorated at its center with rosette and tulip motifs; the ceiling is arranged in rectangular panels with a diamond-patterned (baklava dilimli) motif. The building has a hipped roof clad in Ottoman-style tile, and a minaret with a stone balcony.
Restoration
Following approval of the projects, the Çorum Special Provincial Administration held a restoration tender on 15 June 2020, and signed a contract on 25 June 2020 for 1,197,700 Turkish lira (VAT included). The work, scheduled to take 200 days, was planned for completion on 25 December 2020.
Location
Üçköy is a village within Çorum’s central district, and the mosque stands at the center of the village’s religious and communal life. Other Ottoman-era mosques in central Çorum include Hıdırlık Mosque, Kubbeli Mosque and Han Mosque.
